Our Commitment

Union Supported Living is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do.

We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness and respect. Our services are designed to support people as individuals, recognising their unique needs, experiences and identities.

We actively work to create an inclusive environment for the people we support, their families, our staff and the wider community.

Equality in Our Services

We support adults with autism and learning disabilities from a wide range of backgrounds.

Our approach to care ensures that everyone is treated equally regardless of their:

• age
• disability
• gender
• gender identity
• race or ethnicity
• religion or belief
• sexual orientation
• marital or family status

Support plans are personalised and developed with each individual to ensure their cultural, personal and social needs are respected.

Person-Centred and Inclusive Support

Person-centred care is at the heart of our approach.

We recognise that equality does not mean treating everyone the same. Instead, it means ensuring that every individual receives the support they need to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Our staff work to ensure that individuals are able to:

• express their identity and preferences
• participate in their communities
• access services without discrimination
• feel safe, respected and valued

Equality in Employment

Union Supported Living is an equal opportunities employer.

We aim to create a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Employment decisions are based on skills, experience and suitability for the role.

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or unfair treatment within our workplace.

Staff Training and Awareness

Our staff receive training and guidance to support inclusive practice.

Training may include:

• equality and diversity awareness
• cultural awareness
• autism-informed practice
• person-centred communication
• safeguarding and respectful support

This helps ensure that everyone we support receives care that respects their identity, culture and personal values.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination

Union Supported Living maintains a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment or bullying.

Any concerns relating to discrimination will be taken seriously and addressed in accordance with our safeguarding and complaints procedures.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continually reviewing our policies and practices to ensure equality and inclusion remain central to our organisation.

Feedback from service users, families, staff and professionals helps us improve and maintain high standards of inclusive care.
